Introducing Fairy Bricks

Fairy BricksFormed by three friends, Julie, Kevin, and Martyn who have a love and passion for all things LEGO, Fairy Bricks has had a tremendous impact in hundreds of sick children’s lives. Fairy Bricks volunteers attend LEGO events around the UK and the rest of the world to raise money which allows them to buy LEGO at a discount, and donate them to Children’s Wards at hospitals and hospices local to the events that they attended After a successful year last year, which saw a fantastic donation to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, Fairy Bricks will be attending again this year, but this year, rather than selling raffle tickets, The Yorkshire Brick Show will be donating half of it’s profits to Fairy Bricks to allow their volunteers to send LEGO sets to hospitals all around the region.
Fairy Bricks work as closely as possible with hospital play teams to deliver the sets they actually need. Using their knowledge they offer advice on the suitability of sets depending on how a hospital intends to use them. Sometimes the sets remain in ward play rooms, and smaller sets can be built in bed by children unable to leave their rooms. On other occasions they are given to children to keep as gifts after a difficult procedure.
So far Fairy Bricks have given LEGO to 54 hospitals and would love to double that total by the end of 2015 with your help. Each location has been overjoyed with their delivery. Look out for their huge Mosaic build near the entrance to the show, and speak to Kev “The Hairy Fairy” himself.
